Chili Sunday – January 2017

Chili Sunday on 15th January was a success – more than 30 people came out to enjoy the sunshine, great skiing conditions, great chili and excellent company at the P2 shelter. Many thanks to all who helped to make this a fun day, especially Kate and John Anderson who did the lion’s share of the logistics. Our groomer Darren got many trails into good shape despite some breakdowns with our primary snowmobile. Luckily it warmed up some after a deadly cold spell and with temperatures around -6C and bright sunshine, it was just perfect for skiing.

Lots of different styles of skiing were on display – too bad the Canadian Olympic nordic skiing selectors weren’t around to pick from the local talent!

Some folks preferred snowshoeing and stayed on the marked snowshoeing trails.

All this winter activity builds up the appetite and there was lots of great chili, yummy buns courtesy of Brambles Bakery and lots of treats. Plus good company around the fires.

The draw for the original painting by Jean Kiegerl took place during Chili Sunday. Jean’s lovely painting was won by Murphy Shewchuk – one of our honorary life members. Congratulations Murphy and thank you Jean! To see a photo of the painting click here: Jean Kiegerl painting
