We’ll also use these posts to tell you what’s been groomed, what is scheduled to be groomed, and anything else club members and trail users should know about. Our trails are not suitable for skate-skiing.
SNOWSHOERS – PLEASE READ: We are still getting snowshoers trashing our groomed trails (that means any smoothed or tracked trail). Please do NOT walk or snowshoe on the trails that our ski club members pay to groom. There are flagged snowshoeing trails that you can use starting from most parking lots.

Hi there, coming from out of the area for work for the week. I’m wondering how the conditions are?

There is still a lot of snow on the trails, but it has been really warm with a lot of melting, and we have no groomer. So I suspect the conditions would be rather poor. But I haven’t been on the trails recently (we live at the other end of Kane Valley so get a pretty good idea of what the conditions might be like).
But somebody had good skiing 10 days ago so it might still be good, especially if we get a touch of fresh snow.

March 9 went skiing on hills homestead today. 4″ of powder on a solid base , perfect !

Our groomer is out of action (the person not the machine) and we are trying to find a replacement.
I have heard that the skiing is OK even on the ungroomed trails but I can’t vouch for that.
I went skiing in Kane Valley on a snowed-in road yesterday and it was very good – just a few cm of velvet powder on top of a fairly solid crust. So the trails might be good.
Hi wondering what the conditions are and if grooming has been done
3 inches of fresh snow and -4 this morning, with no grooming in the foreseeable future due to our groomer Darren being out of commission.
The skiing should be good for the adventurous wilderness folks that like a back country experience in this beautiful Valley!
Friday night 3rd March – We’re getting a mix of rain and snow in Kane Valley so skiing will be somewhat marginal. We’ve also had some problems grooming so some trails have not been groomed for more than a week or so.

March 2nd update: decent spring skiing this morning with temp up to +2, so starting to get a bit sticky when I left. I started out at P5, tried to ski out on Kane, but a snowmobile had made a loop, and left behind uneven tracks which have frozen into ruts. I had to walk back out from January shelter due to the inability to snowplow in the narrow trench left behind. I then headed up Overeasy which was a much smother trail, but icy under the trees, so gave up on that one. Decided to stop in at P2 on the way out, and was able to enjoy a nice smooth ski out to Jake’s Junction without encountering any further snowmobile tracks. Perfect spring conditions after a sufficient recent thaw that has left behind a reasonably smooth base, with about 1 cm fresh snow on top. The hard crust that I had skied on last Sunday has softened, so poling is also easier now.
On Sunday, I was only able to shuffle along on a bumpy base & balance mostly using my poles, whereas today, it was a nice kick & glide kinda day . . . once I found the right trail 🙂
Rick, there is a popular area between Kane Valley & Merritt, on the opposite side of the highway, at Lundbom Lake for road/trail sledding. Most other sledding areas around here are mountain riding. If you don’t mind driving toward Kamloops, Helmer Lake is another popular backroad snowmobiling area
I’m planning on coming up to the Kane Valley this coming weekend for some skiing, and was wondering if anyone knew of any nearby areas I could also ride my snowmobile. Its a trail machine, not a mountain sled and just want to see some scenery and take a few photos. Are there any trails or old logging roads nearby the ski trails we can explore, without covering ski trails?
