Kane Valley Ski Conditions – February 2016

ATTENTION SNOW-SHOERS                                                                                              Please do NOT snow-shoe on the groomed trails. “Groomed” means any trails that are smoothed by our groomer. You are wrecking the trails for the skiers who pay for the grooming.

Been skiing in the past day or so? Leave us a comment about which route you used, what the trail was like, and anything that needs attention. You can also leave (or respond to) questions on the Kane Valley Trails or about local weather.

We’ll also use these posts to tell you what’s been groomed, what is scheduled to be groomed, and anything else club members and trail users should know about.

0 degrees & snowing at Kane Valley this a.m. with 1 cm fresh on the ground. Snow was starting to stick to the snowshoes by the time I was leaving, but with the right wax, skiing should be good

feb 26th. I parked at p3 at 2:30pm. Skied up vale, asp, along ravens ridge, and back down vale. The temp was +12 degrees. The snow is old, settled, but soft, due to time of day. Under a few trees there is melting ice and or sketchy bits of snow. Use caution under trees. In the sun, the skiing was really nice and forgiving on reasonable packed trails. I am really glad I got up there today. There are not many days left and it is hard to beat warm temperatures and soft snow. I use glide wax on non wax skis and had no trouble with sticking snow.

    What are ski conditions today?

    Lovely trails, Nicola Nordic!

And the real delight is that they are so well marked! I didn’t use that paper trail map at all.

We have driven past the highway sign for these trails for too many years as we drove the kids to races, and always meant to check the trails out. So we finally did today. We had a great time and will be back!

    two happy Vancouver skiers

  5. Rob Rose says:

I had a nice morning ski today, hills homestead. -5 at p2 11am. conditions are still good.

  6. JH says:

Just came back from skiing Kane, up Skyhigh, then Homestead from P2. It was +1 up to +5, but there was no sun. There is no ice under the light covering of new snow. There are no hard ice ridges on the smooth packed trail. The ski was very pleasant.

  7. Andrea says:

Friends skied Matthews yesterday and report good packed powder conditions.

  8. Rob Rose says:

Had a very good ski this morning. Loving the conditions. looking forward to more fresh snow.

    Good Morning,
It is -10 and a beautiful sunny day 🙂 Grooming will continue throughout the week, so Darren can get all trails groomed. Ski, Ski, Ski.

    Good Morning 🙂
Groomer update is as follows: Darren removed the tree down on Ravine and the one at Chute. He groomed a little ( he reported that it was a bit too warm and needs the weather to be cooler for all to work well for his grooming machine). He groomed: Matthew’s loop, Chute to P1, Raven’s Ridge (some), Aspen to January landing, top of Ravine to Sundown. There is a prediction for snow this week, so more grooming may take place if all lines up 🙂 Skiing is still happening, an amazing year. Happy skiing everyone.
