Trail updates

Take care! There has been a washout on the Hill’s Homestead trail which removed part of the road (and ski area). The club has marked off this area with a high-visibility fence but take care in skiing downhill in this area.

Logging trucks. There is logging going on in the Kane Valley area and logging trucks are using Kane Valley Road through the ski trail area. Drive with care, especially on corners.

Been skiing in the past day or so? Leave us a comment about which route you used, what the trail was like, and anything that needs attention. You can also leave (or respond to) questions on the Kane Valley Trails or about local weather.

We’ll also use these posts to tell you what’s been groomed, what is scheduled to be groomed, and anything else club members and trail users should know about. Our trails are not suitable for skate-skiing.

Feb 21nd. Skied from p2 hills homestead down sky high to over easy to gulch, vale back to p2. About 1” of fresh snow on the groomed trails. Sky high wasn’t groomed but it has been skied on. The hill at canyon on overeasy is a bit difficult. Beautiful sunny day Couldn’t as for better conditions.

Sunday 17 Feb – We skied Kane and Hill’s Homestead loop from P5. Temp at -7C all day. Perfect skiing conditions and excellently groomed trails – nice and wide in most places and tracks set on the level sections. One of our best ski days in the past decade – definitely worth coming out to ski.

    Grooming update:

The groomers were out today and managed to get the whole south side groomed and tracked! Matthews, Kane, Hills, Aspen, Sundown and even Ravine are all groomed.

Many thanks to Hubby (no, not my husband but Hubby Mann) and Terrance Grams for all their efforts, the grooming is awesome and the trails are wide. They are going out again tomorrow and if all goes well, the top side will get groomed as well!

We skied a loop from P5 this afternoon, -1 at 4pm and the conditions were perfect.

BIG thank you to VSA for plowing out all our parking areas!!!

    Come out and play!

  6. Rob Rose says:

Skied vale to Manzie then Mathews back to p3. Several inches of new snow. Groomers were out.

  7. Tj says:

Was up skiing yesterday February 9th. Conditions are good, couple of inches on groomed trails, a little slower if you’re leading the way. But once a tracks been made the snow is good. Absolutely beautiful, no wind…
