Kane Valley Skiing – December 2019

Scroll down to see comments on ski conditions or to post a comment yourself.

Take note!  December 21st – 24th: many trails are now groomed – watch for comments below to see which trails have been groomed.

Some important changes at the Kane Valley trails:

  • Skiers with dogs are now allowed on two trails – the usual Matthews Loop (and the Chute access) and now also on Aspen between P5 and P6 (Please don’t take dogs on to any of the adjacent trails)
  • There are now signs for the snowshoe trails – PLEASE DO NOT SNOWSHOE ON THE GROOMED SKI TRAILS.
  • We have a new membership drop-off location: Breathe Bikes at 1960 Quilchena Avenue. Owner Travis Fehr is our membership coordinator. Merritt and area residents can now drop off membership forms with payments and pick up membership tags. Tags will still be mailed to out-of-town members.

Been skiing in the past day or so? Leave us a comment about which route you used, what the trail was like, and anything that needs attention. You can also leave (or respond to) questions on the Kane Valley Trails or about local weather.

We’ll also use these posts to tell you what’s been groomed, what is scheduled to be groomed, and anything else club members and trail users should know about. Our trails are not suitable for skate-skiing.

From P1, skied Raven’s, Gulch and Vale, crossed over and did Kane, Matthew’s and Chute back to P1. Better and more snow than expected, and great weather. Plenty of skiers and snowshoers out and about. A big shout out to the groomers. Lots of tracking done, and even room for some skate skiing in places. Lots a fun!

skied Menzies, Chute, and Ravens ridge today. Kane road is plowed and sanded. The snow is good. The trails were packed and tracked for nice skiing. Even got to say Merry Christmas to a big brown owl sitting in a tree!

YRB plowed out P2!!! Yippee! A huge shout out and thanks to these hard working folks who keep our roads open and safe and do some extras for our community!
Have fun out there everyone and happy holidays!

I was out just as the groomers were leaving Dec 21. Trails are very narrow and not well packed. Ruts on the hills made it very difficult even on the easy trails.

1pm -6 Clear blue skies and trails are all groomed!!!!

We received almost 2 feet of snow and our awesome groomers (Hubby Mann and Terrance Grams) have been busy and have packed and groomed widely all the trails. The tracking will begin tomorrow, and i will keep posting to this blog to update. Please post as well, and let us know about your experience.

Please do drop off day fees in the boxes at trail heads, or better yet, buy a seasons pass (or get one for a friend for a last minute gift, download the membership form on the website). All proceeds go directly to our non- profit volunteer club for grooming and maintenance.

Come out and play!!! FYI P2 is not plowed out but access is available everywhere else. Hoping our new road contractors YRB will take up the torch and help us out.

Big shout out to all the volunteers who worked so hard off season clearing trails and to the rest of the directors who keep the club going. It’s a beautiful thing!

    Have fun everyone!
